Dental Implants Methods

Dental Implants done in New York City are when the dentist restores a tooth or group of teeth by using a titanium root. Root form endosseous implants are where implants are placed in the mouth that has an appearance to them an actual tooth root. These implants are then bone of the jaw and osseointegrated with the titanium post, osseointegrates is the main part of making the implant look and feel like a natural tooth. Before the invention of root-form endosseous implants most where done with blade endosseous implants that resembled the shape of a flat blade that was then attached with screws to the jaw bone.

Dental implants have been used to help support a large number of dental prostheses such as dentures, crowns and implanted support bridges. Implants can also be used to anchor orthodontic tooth movement which allows the denture implants to move but will not cause any reciprocal actions.

During the 1950s researchers began conduction a study of blood flow in vivo, where titanium was embedded into the soft tissue of rabbit ears. It was then followed up in 1952 by a Swedish Doctor P I Branemark who was studying how bones heal and regenerate. He had tried removing the titanium from the rabbits but had found that the bone had grown around and adhered to it. Following with more studies he concluded that titanium would adhere to bone and allow for a better recovery period. It was Melchaided Tramonte that realized titanium could be used for dental restoration and designed a titanium screw support his own dental prosthesis. He then began to use it on his own patients in 1959. In 1966 his results were so good that they were published as successful clinical studies on humans. It was Stevens and Alexander that led to the 1969 US Patent for Titanium Dental Implants.

There are 5 grades of titanium to date used in the screw part of an implant, with the most recent a Titanium 6AL-4V which is made of 6% of Aluminum and 4% of Vanadium alloy. Grade 5 is considered at this time to be the closest to pure titanium and has a similar osseointegration level.

If you are considering Dental Implants in New York City then you will need to know that before any surgery can be scheduled there is a certain amount of time needed to plan. During this planning phase the dentist will check out the structures of the inferior alveolar nerve or also known as the sinus. The dentist will also need to know the dimensions and shape of the bone.

More and more Dental Implants in New York City have become popular with the immediate placement method. This is when the single replacement is placed into the recently extracted location of the tooth. By doing this it can cut down on recovery time and in a few cases a prosthetic tooth can be attached to the implant at the same time the dental implants are done. Data is very friendly with the procedure of placing the implant into a single rooted tooth site with healthy bones and mucosa is around them.
