The Invisalign System
The Invisalign orthodontic system is used in the treatment of misaligned teeth. Using a series of clear removable plastic appliances, your orthodontist gradually moves your teeth into the desired position.
Used for post-treatment retention to hold your teeth in place a series of 4 retainer sets are provided through an annual subscription. Your final dentition is stored electronically and can be recalled to order additional retainers.
iTero optical scanning system digitally captures photos of your teeth that can be used in orthodontic treatments such as braces or restorations. The iTero system was purchased by Invisalign and has been integrated as the first step by replacing the putty based impressions of the past.
End to End Orthodontic Process by Invisalign
During your initial consultation with your orthodontist you’ll discuss the issues you have with your teeth and what kind of results you would like to see. The doctor will determine if your situation is suitable for Invisalign treatment. A treatment plan will be mapped out that takes into consideration your needs and goals. Following the creation of a plan, a technician will take digital 3D scans of your teeth will be taken with the iTero System.
The iTero handheld wand takes a digital, 3D image of your prepared teeth (typically takes less than 10 minutes). You can look at the iTero 3D image on the screen in real-time. Now instead of UPS shipping impressions to the lab to be scanned, the digital image is electronically sent to the lab and is available in the Invisalign Clincheck system the next day.
The doctor will plan your tooth movements throughout your entire treatment timeline. You’ll be able to see a virtual representation of your teeth before, during, and after completion of the Invisalign process so you can see what your smile should look like when you’re done with treatment.
Customized aligners are created that you will wear at each stage of your treatment. While the number of aligners varies for each patient, a full set of aligners typically numbers 20 to 30 per arch.
Once you’re finished with your Invisalign treatment you will maintain your tooth position by using a retainer. Invisalign now offers Vivera Retainers that are constructed from the same material as the invisalign aligner.
Clear Vivera retainers invisibly hold your teeth at their final position using a clear plastic retainer that fits over your teeth. Once enrolled in the Vivera program you will no longer need to have impressions made in the future.
