Dental Implant Costs – An Overview

It is a well known fact that dental implant costs are extremely high. But I can assure you that dental implant cost is a worthwhile investment considering the marvelous benefits of the implants.

Typically the dental implant cost for a tooth implanting will be around $1000. Dental implant costs for a full set teeth implant through the complex implant procedure can be up to $30,000. Mostly the insurance companies do not offer insurance to cover up the dental implant costs. But there are some dentists, who offer some financial plans for the potential individuals.

Dental implants consist of two parts joined together. The bottom part, which is fixed to the jawbones, is made up of titanium metal and this hold the crown portion of ceramic tooth. It will give the appearance of a real tooth and there is no requirement of replacing it before bed. With the successful implant and proper healing you can be assured of a fully working tooth. It will be extremely difficult for anyone to distinguish between the real tooth and the implanted tooth.

Titanium post is being used as it is the best metal which can be fitted amidst live tissues without any reactions. Mostly titanium will not be rejected by the human body as a foreign object, if it is fixed on the jaw bone. If the jaw bone is strong and dense, the procedure will be starting with extraction of the parts of the problem tooth. Then the titanium post will be inserted, completing the first phase of the implant surgery. The procedure can take number of sessions covering many months.

Next phase will start only after 3-6 months, which is the time for fusing the jaw bones with the titanium post. This process is known as osseointegration. A new base, abutment, is added over the implant so that it can hold the ceramic tooth over it. Dental implant costs will depend up on the number of sessions and the associated operations carried out.

Very often it is found that the bone structures will have many limitations, such as they were previously damaged or not very strong. Sometimes the area may have limited bone growth, like the area below sinus cavities. In such cases bone grafting or growing is required before implant of the tooth. These processes will add up the dental implant costs and also the treatment will take longer periods.

There are some newer processes in dental implants that come out all the time. In this new process the complete implant is done with a temporary crown just after the extraction of the existing tooth. Once the implant is fused to the bone, a permanent tooth will replace the temporary one.

While discussing dental implant cost in terms of time and money, you should consider the host of problems that a damaged tooth can bring into your life. Also you have to see how much time, money and efforts you have to invest in coming out from those problems. Then you will feel that dental implant cost is worthwhile to spend now.
